ZK News – Zimmer Kunz Attorneys Volunteer in PBA Mock Trial Program
The Regional rounds of the Pennsylvania Bar Association’s High School Mock Trial Program are coming to a close, and Zimmer Kunz attorneys have been a key part of the event in Region 1, which encompasses Allegheny County.
Associate Thomas Cocchi was asked by PBA mock trial leadership to assist in the coordination of the mock trial program this year, and he has worked with lead coordinator Ryan Sypniewski to schedule, arrange, and provide technical support to the judges and jury panels for this years’ competition.
Shareholder Joseph Butcher served as a presiding judge, and Associates Benjamin McGiffin, Bridget Fitzpatrick, and Zachary Evans all served as jury members. Evans not only served as a juror for multiple mock trials, but also brought a full panel of jurors with him for his first mock trial, including one who went on to serve as a judge and juror in other mock trials as well. Their involvement and willingness to volunteer lead to a successful year for the mock trial program, and greatly enhanced the quality of the experience for the student participants as well.
The Mock Trial program is geared toward serving the students who participate in it, and thanks to the assistance from attorneys from Zimmer Kunz, and throughout the region, Allegheny County will be sending its best two teams to the state championship rounds.
